What have we taken on?!

Updated: Nov 11, 2021

When we first moved to Herefordshire we’d been hunting for a house with land that we could afford for nearly 2 years. We‘d seen so many places all through Wales, Devon, Somerset, Dorset and beyond. We found this house by fluke really, and as soon as we drove up to it my husband fell instantly in love. It took me a while longer as the house was way bigger than I wanted and not as much land as I'd hoped for but I have to confess I‘d got serious house hunting fatigue by this stage that I overlooked it… and oh how I’m glad I did!

However, for the first two years with all the building work and realisation that this gaff was tonnes more work that our last little cottage, I did get a bit of a case of the eeeeks.

This was the picture on the sales brochure…

This was the tiny cottage we moved from!

The day we first arrived was hugely daunting. The house hadn’t been lived in for nearly two years so the outside space was hugely overgrown and we had my horse arriving two days after us so the first job was to tackle reaching the fields! Our tiny little strimmer we used at the cottage died almost immediately, through shock and horror probably!!

Start as you mean to go on though right?! So, over the next year that’s what we did, went hell for leather renovating and redesigning the whole house from this….

To this….

Not a bad effort we hope you’ll agree 😍
